self employment at age 16 in graphic arts?

ok i am 16 a sophbmore at napoleon highschool, i want to go to college to get my bachlors degree in graphic design, right now i need a job and i want one with something to do with computers, but the economy isent good so i’m thinking about posting an add in the news paper that says that if you need a logo designed i can make one for a good price, or something to that effect, i just want to know if designing my own logos at this age will people buy theem off me i have already made a logo for G2 (gatorade 2) and i sent a note to gatorade company and they said maby in the future we will buy your logo off you, so i want to know if this is a good idea i am very artistic and know a bunch about computers and graphic design so any answers will work thanks.

go for it, if it doesnt work out you havent lost anything, just dont get too higher expectations at first, dont rely on it as your main income, just keep advertising, knocking on the door and be patient good luck

    If you have a strong portfolio & background…but I doubt you do at your age.

    Try working at a print shop or something like that and work on your portfolio in the meantime. If you are an artist – try submitting you work to http://www.juxtapoz.com/

    you never know – if its good – you might get recognized – you can submit your work online & if they like it -they will put it in their reader art section of their website.
